Facts About DC Neighborhoods North Cleveland Park

The North Cleveland Park neighborhood in upper North West (sometimes called Van Ness) is located between Wisconsin Avenue, NW and Connecticut Avenue NW – just north of the Cleveland Park neighborhood.

Both Cleveland Park and North Cleveland Park are part of the original track of land purchase by President Grover Cleveland back in the 1860’s. A summer home was built in Cleveland Park for his new bride during his first term in office.

North Cleveland Park residents enjoy living in this neighborhood because of its walkability. Both the Van Ness and Tenleytown metro stops are an easy stroll as well as several public schools, Wholefoods, library, shops, restaurants. It is not unusual to see the locals out and about enjoying going places without having to use their car. This neighborhood has the convenience of being in the city yet has an almost suburban feel.

The local public schools are within walking distance. Murch and Hearst schools are close by as well as Alice Deal Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. Several private schools are in the vicinity as well. The University of the District of Columbia is part of this neighborhood and is located on Connecticut Avenue. American University is also close by; AU students can catch a bus to the main campus at a bus stop near the Tenley Metro stop.

Some local restaurants such as Guapos and Marsala Arts are located on Wisconsin Avenue. S’foglina, (really in Forest Hills), Tessora and Acacia Food & Wine are located on Connecticut Avenue. Award winning Bread Furst coffee shop is on Connecticut and Starbucks is located on Wisconsin.

Every Saturday year round, there is a local famers market held at the Sheridan School - 36th and Alton Pl, NW.

North Cleveland Park is also close to green spaces like the Peter Muhlenberg memorial. Ft. Reno and Rock Creek Park is not far away.

14 of single-family homes were sold in 2017 in N. Cleveland Park. The average price range was from $1,256,000 for a 4BR/2BA home to $5,747,000 for a 7BR/7BA residence. One home on Van Ness Street is presently under contract and one home at 3720 Alton Place, NW is currently for sale.

18 semi detached / row houses sold in 2017 with the average price range of $780,000 for a 4BR/1 full baht/2 half baths to $1,380,000 for a 5BR/3.5BA home. There is one home on Windom Place, NW currently for sale.

12 condos/coops sold in 2017 ranging from $312,000 for a 1BR/1BA to $651,000 for a 2BR/2BA. Presently there are two condo/coops under contract. Both are 1BR/1BA units. And 2 units are currently active on the market. One unit is a 1BR/1BA and the other unit is a 2BR.
